3. Secret Santa
Don't forget to get your Secret Santa present this week. There is a festive box in the dept office and we'll swap and share during lunch on Fri 12th Dec. Who knows? Santa might even bring some festive treats for everyone...so long as you've been good all year.

4. Dept meal
Has everyone let Phoebe know a) if they are coming to the dept meal on 16th Dec, and b) what they'd like to eat? Our table is booked for 8pm but I'm sure there'll be an opportunity to meet for pre-dinner drinks. Watch this space.

5. Staff Christmas party
Don't forget the staff Christmas party on Friday 12th Dec. It's always a good event and a nice way to end the term. See one of the staffroom committee for a ticket. (Only £10 and bring your own booze...bargain!)

Wed 26th Nov, 2:30-4:30: Report moderation
Fri 28th Nov: Cheney Friends Quiz Night

2. Reports / Assessment Points
AP1 has been cancelled.
Year 8 full reports: due Fri 28th Nov
Year 11 (core) full reports: due Fri 28th Nov

You will notice that report moderation (Wed 26th Nov) takes place before the deadline for the Year 8 and 11 reports (Fri 28th Nov). This means that the data team won't be able to print out the reports for departments to moderate. Here is my suggestion:

  • Year 8 and 11 teachers write the comments section (limit: 500 characters, including spaces) for your reports on Word (to get a character count, select the text, click on the 'Review' tab and select 'Word Count')
  • Print off that Word document and bring it with you to the moderation meeting on Wed 26th Nov
  • As a department, we will swap reports and proof read
  • Staff will make the necessary corrections to their comments on Word before cut'n'pasting them into Serco (and adding current working-at grades/levels and scores for the 5Rs, etc)
It never takes us anything near two hours to proof read our reports (we only have 20 classes to do between twelve of us), so teachers could use the remaining time of that moderation meeting to enter to the comments/scores into Serco without anyone using time outside of allocated time.

If you have already written your reports into Serco, please just print off what you have written and bring it with you to the meeting.
