1. Dates for diaries

2. Reports/Assessment Points
Year 8 short report: due Fri 4th Apr

3. English/English Language mock exam
This will start at the beginning of P3 and continue until the end of lunch. Students will have a late lunch and return to P5 at 2:30.

The papers we are using are:
Foundation: Johnny Depp, Lifeboat saved my hamster, Michael Palin
Higher: Vegetarian, Junk food, Olives

If you are due to teach Year 11 in P3, please can you help set up/settle down:
Assembly Hall: JKY, CSW, AAL
Gym: LMA, HDY, PST

4. Coursework moderation arrangements
We have had to change our coursework moderation dates. We are now moderating on:
Wed 23rd + Thurs 24th April. Please make sure all coursework folders are complete by this date.

We'll be in the Community Hall all day on Wednesday and in C18 (the hexagonal literacy building) for Thursday morning and back in the Community Hall for Thursday afternoon.

5. KS4 Leader
We are recruiting for a KS4 Leader within the English Department. If you are interested in applying for the position, all the details are on the Cheney School website: http://www.cheney.oxon.sch.uk/page/?title=English+KS+4+Leader&pid=541 

6. Heather's birthday!
Cake and biscuits in the dept office at break.

7. Visiting Chinese Teachers
There will be a group of 26 Chinese Teachers visiting Cheney on Wednesday 2nd April. They will have a meeting with JKY in P1/P2, at which point half will leave Cheney to visit Spires Academy and half will stay here to observe some P3 lessons:

3. Dept observation week
Please make sure that your lesson observations take place before the end of this week and that I get a copy of all feedback documents.

4. Own professional development observations
I currently have a grand total of THREE feedback paragraphs from people's own professional development observations. Please do these asap and send me a paragraph of your reflections.

5. Year 11 coursework trackers
Please can Year 11 staff update the coursework trackers with updated marks (eg from the re-take sessions we're running on Sundays, etc)

6. GCSE coursework standardisation
Please make sure you have marked the relevant pieces for the GCSE coursework standardisation that we're going to do during Wednesday's double dept meeting. See LMA's email for all the necessary information.

3. SEN Review: Mon 3rd-Tues 4th March
Pat O'Shea and Lucy Mettyear will be conducting a review of Cheney's SEN provision next week. This will consist of learning walks ONLY by the review team and members of SLT.

Please see Amjad's email for all the necessary information but can we all make sure we:

  • know who the SEN students are in all our classes (especially SEN-D students)
  • have this clearly marked on seating plans, markbooks, lesson planning documents, etc
  • are able to discuss/make explicit all the things we are doing for our SEN students (eg reading interventions at KS3, coursework interventions at KS4, Brookes learning mentors, etc)

4. Second mock exam
We will stick with Mon 31st March as the date for the second mock exam:

  • If you are querying whether a student should change tier, please mark those scripts first and notify Jo Simpson (jsi@cheney...) of any changes before Fri 4th April
  • If you would like to check your marking against another teacher's, feel free to swap some sample scripts. The logical pairings would be:
    • CSW - PTO
    • KWI - PST
    • HDY - LMA
    • RMI/AAL - JKY (Cheney Plus)
