Bulletin - 6th December

Hi all,

Netbooks

We now have a class set of 28 wireless-enabled netbooks exclusively for use in the English department. This is an exciting development with massive potential for improving engagement and learning in the department, meaning that we can begin to take a more flexible and personalised approach to the use of ICT. They are currently stored in C2, but do let me know if you'd like to use them with your class. You don't have to use the whole lot... I will try before Xmas to get a proper booking system and guidance notes out, but in the meantime, feel free to have a go! I've used them and they are fab.

Sick of Powerpoint?

Then have a look at this: http://www.prezi.com/ - surely the future for creating presentations!

Sharing Practice document
Many thanks to everyone for the Agile Teaching observations that have been conducted recently; I have seen some absolutely brilliant teaching and learning, and some inspiring lessons. I have collected the main features of this together into a document which aims to share features of successful lessons, as well as common themes where activities have been less successful. The idea is obviously that we can refer to this when planning and share successful approaches across the department. I'll distribute paper copies of this as well as an email version on Monday.

Cheney News - English Bulletin

- I'd like to make a short Cheney News-style film to show to classes as a celebration of achievements at the end of term - would teachers therefore please decide on a particularly impressive piece of work that they've had this year, and be ready to talk to camera about it? Any other ideas for this?

Have a great week!

Tom
